Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar, a BS-21 officer of Inland Revenue Service, currently holding the position of Additional Secretary, Ministry of Industries & Production (MOI&P), Islamabad. He brings with him rich professional experience, spanning over 27 years; from Income Tax Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Income, Additional Director, Directorate General of Training, Income Tax Commissioner Inland Revenue and Chief Commissioner to Member (Inland Revenue Policy).

Dr. Hamid is a hard-core professional tax-collector who qualified CSS in 1992 and after the initial training in the Civil Services Academy and Directorate of Training & Research (Income Tax) Lahore, he was posted in the Income Tax Department at Lahore in 1994. He has the distinction of serving in various capacities in the corporate zones dealing with cases of companies/corporations for over a period of 25 years. He also worked as Member (FATE), FBR, Islamabad.

During his illustrious career he was declared as the best Additional Commissioner, got LUMS NMF GOLD MEDAL in EMBA 2010, Merit Scholarship at LUMS in 2005 and President’s Gold Medal for 1st position in Final Passing out Examination conducted by Federal Public Service Commission in 1994. He also got several Meritorious and Special Meritorious rewards by the Chairman, FBR and awarded Best Teacher by Directorate General of Direct Tax Training in 2001.

 

Presently as Additional Secretary, MOI&P, he is representing and dealing the following affairs:

  • Senate & National Assembly’s Standing Committee on I&P.
  • Director on the Boards of EPZA-Karachi, NIP-Karachi, Chairman, BoDs of NFML-Lahore and FFC-Rawalpindi.
  • Meetings of Inter-Ministerial Committee & ECC of the Cabinet.
  • Meetings of Fertilizer Review Committee (FRC), Sugar Advisory Board (SAB) and cost audit of sugar mills in FBR.
  • BoDs of different Public Sector Companies.
  • Meetings of Progress Review meeting on PSDP (+).
  • Meetings on critical issues & way forward for steel sector.
  • Meetings of transaction of Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation (PSMC) to discuss the issue of Jetty & Right of Way (ROW).
  • Meetings of Cabinet Committee on Institutional Reforms (CCIR).
  • Meeting with representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB) for formulation of Industrial Policy.
  • Meetings of NPMC in Finance Division and P.M’s Office.
  • Meetings on Auto Industry Development & Export Plant (AIDEP) 2021-26.
  • Monitor daily sugar stock position in the country and advice for timely import.
  • Work done for re-structuring of PSM.
  • Drafting of EV Policy, Mobile Device Policy and Industrial Policy.

 

He has undertaken a number of professional and management related training programs like the Senior Management Course, and the National Management Course at the Staff College, Lahore and other short-term training courses both in Pakistan and abroad.
